noticed a butterfly on my house wall and so tunggu apa lagi? shoot la :D i wanted to play with my off camera flash so i tried placing it near the butterfly at different positions. after a few minutes of trial and error, here is the result. placed the flash at an angle, behind the subject. flash fitted with homemade snoot, hence creating the dark shadows. comments and critiques welcome. and the butterfly was never heard of again...thanks for viewing

hey people :D this is what i did yesterday....shoot flowers! all shot with a single sb-600 flashgun on different positions to the subject. i paired the flashgun with my homemade diffuser. see this. the black background was given off by using manila cards(black colour) and shot at the comfort of my home kitchen. sat on a stool throughout the shoot. here are the the photos...

was busy preparing for final semester exams and my camera was untouched for a few weeks(kinda forgot to shoot pictures :D ). then on yesterday i grabbed my cam and started to shoot things inside my house.. max the ISO, and what you get are grainy photos :D

Malaysia International Fashion Week. was at this fashion show to support my friend Julian Goh (one of the featured student designer) and also to take lots of photos for all of you to enjoy :D actually it was an eye opening experience for me, as this was the first time im shooting a real fashion show( not those kind of fashion shows organised by camera manufacturers where hundreds of photographer will cram into a place and push each other to get that decent shot) not that...im talking about a real fashion show! woohoo! fashion industry bigshot Datuk Bernard Chandran was also there to support this event. this is the first part of the series.do come later for the second part yea? ok let the pictures do the talking! :D

Utar Talent Night 2009

UTAR Talent Night! Organised by UTAR PJ Dance club, this event took place around the halloween celebration. The theme was, as expected, Halloween. I enjoyed the performances lined up, and most of all, enjoyed clicking all the way through! The organising commitees there were sporting enough to apply these scary( zombie-like) make ups. Thumbs up for them :D OK, enough talking and here are some random sprinkles of the shots taken during the event :D

was invited to a fashion show (KL fashion week) by my friend Julian last week, where he showed off his 'couture' there. what an achievement really...as usual, my trusty D90 travelled alongside me. got to shoot runway models together with other experienced photographers there. well, i hope i can find the time to edit it and show it on this blog. till then... :D

they say generally photographers take photo of somebody else, without anyone taking photo of them (the photographers). this is quite true for me, as when i get my hands one my camera, i will only shoot pictures of people around me. now i am doing something different... a self-portrait featuring me (solo) :D this was taken at home, with my camera placed on my trusty but cheap tripod. shots are fired using remote control, with a single sb600 through DIY softbox on right hand side of this photo. photoshopped the awesome cool floor into this photo for "retro" look. black and white is in! for those of you who are wondering, im holding a "ukulele", a guitar-like instrument which originated from Hawaii ( i think so....) anyway, enjoy the photo and as usual, the larger file can be viewed at my flickr. comments and critiques appreaciated !

Canon Photomarathon 2009

went to the Canon Photomarathon 2009 held at sunway lagoon. had to pay rm30, as i am a non-nikon user. (nikon, please organise an event and charge non-nikon users more :D ....haha just kidding). for rm30, i was given a red tshirt, a cap, and a full day admission pass( means that we can only walk around there, cant play anything). although i didnt win anything, i had fun. made some new friends there (nikon and canon :D ) and hope to catch up with them soon. forgot to add....here are some of the best shots of the day...VERDICT: will i go there next year? only if canon marketing buck up and make sure that there is no more server failures. (again, have to thank them for organising such an event)...speaking of which, when will nikon organise something like this? lets just hope they will do something. enjoy !! comments and critiques appreaciated...

having my semester break now. i went to KLcity centre in hope of shooting the people there, but just didnt have the guts to do so :D. afraid that they will wack me up or something. so i shot stills, and here they are . went to petaling street, n some other jalan that i forgot the name (so sorry). used my newfound cross processing (digital) techniques and applied it in some of my pics. enjoy!!! c and c appreciated...thanks for viewing!

ahh yes...the guitar. been playing for two or three years since. (do drop me a note if you wanna see me play XD). anyway, about this picture, the main subject of course IS the guitar, and the model is my sis. though you cant see her face, but i think thats good enuf :D used photoshop cs3 for this " cross processed" effect. some purist photographers on flickr may have something against this kind of editing done on photoshop , but still, i do find "cross processing" AMAZING !!! "cross processing" is a process done during the film camera era (still done now), where photographers simply mix and match chemicals to go according their tastes, and hence, producing this kind of "look".

another "planned" random shot. featuring me!!! tools used: camera, tripod, guitar,shades and a "lengchai" (sorry for being syiok sendiri :D ). i used the cheap nikon wireless remote to trigger my camera, and processed this photo using photoshop to reveal the four of "us". hope you enjoy the pics and thanks for viewing!!!

BOKEH ?

bokeh? ever wondered what's that? "bokeh", derived from a japanese word, simply means 'blur'. so, in this case, the whole picture is out of focus and hence we get these beautiful roundish shapes. it depends on individuals whether they like it or not, but it surely has a huge following Among photographers around the world. Just go to flickr and search for "bokeh" and you will get thousands of bokeh pictures. They even have a group created just for bokeh shots. So, if you ever get blurrish shots or out of focus shots, don't be quick to delete them cos you might just got a perfect and artistic "bokeh" shot. The picture here is created by using manual focus on a 50mm lens. Bokeh does not have to be of roundish shape, but the term can be applied to anything that is blur. Thanks for viewing!!

utar city tour!!!(just to let you guys know, im now a utarian :D) held on sunday, 7th june i followed this tour that brought us around KL. i was seriously fun, and i got to know a lot of other utarians too (nice to meet you too :D ). this tour had students from the setapak campus and the pj campus and i paid rm 20 for it. quite a reasonable price, considering dinner is included.

i went to the kl birdpark a few weeks ago with my mom, both armed with a camera in our hands. it seems that foreigners need to pay more for the ticket...hmm...anyway, i expect to capture pictures of peacock with its extended feathers but went away with none. no doubt that there are lots of peacock there but they seem somewhat tired(not enough food? i dont know). i used my 18-105mm lens. although its versatile, but it still aint long enough...ok, time for some pictures :D

shoting water again

i tried my hands on capturing water again..this time i dropped ice on the water to create the splash effect that i wanted. again, shot with a sb600 external flash ( its just so fun playing with it :D). this time with different setup. i used a white background for this. you will never imagine the total mess created by this :D prepared 3 dry cloths to "wipe em out" the water...enjoy. any constructive comments and critiques appreciated. thanks for viewing!

i play the classical (ahem...classical) guitar. started learning it since 3 years ago. here are some shots of my classical guitar to be shared (its a solid top admira alegria and made in spain :D) the sound pierces into your ear (wanna try? :D) i think i will upload some videos of me playing some pieces soon.ok!! here are the pictures. for the guitar shots i held it using my hand and clicked the camera using the other hand...quite hard to hold actually.

DIY light box ( eutjin's special edition version 1.00 )

i just made a soft box ( a diffuser for external flashlight) and i call it DIY light box ( eutjin's special edition version 1.00 ). its gonna be out there in the market soon (please be patient :D ) just kidding. main features of this soft box are:

1. made out of completely free and recycled items

2. a good ( or rather ok, or bad alternative) to other soft boxes in the market

3. able to diffuse light from the external flashlight. DUH!!!!

4. easy to install on your own flashlight and wont harm your precious flashlight.

had a chance to have photoshoot session today. session was held at the abandoned nursery at subang parade. today i had the chance of having miss amanda anne and miss sandra chai as my model. YAY!!!! thank you amanda and sandra for volunteering :D. it was fun and i would say they are good at posing for the camera and most importantly, the camera loves them!!! here are some of the preview shots (more will come so don't worry). enjoy!!

was busy taking pictures for my old school a few weeks back . met up with friends and teachers and realised how much i missed school. here are some pics to share. :D

what class? peralihan. notice the mak cik sitting in front?( haha kiddin) anyways, the students are so cute and tiny (no offense here..) notice the boy on the far right corner?

went to dcim 2009 at midvalley a few weeks ago. lots of photographers and lots of satisfaction shooting the models there :D. managed to capture some shots of the models. overall, the event was quite successfull but needed more sponsors to set up booths. went there with my mum and sis but was later left ALONE there..haha. anyways, enjoy the picture and leave some comments and critiques. :D btw, all the shots here are edited using GIMP, a free and powerfull photo editing software.
